Job Overview:

The Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a startup environment. You will be a key player in building and maintaining our financial infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Generate and present financial reports to management, providing insights and recommendations.
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.

Accounts Payable/Receivable:

Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Monitor and manage customer accounts and collections.

General Ledger Management:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.
Perform monthly and year-end closing procedures.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.

Inventory Management:

Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate tracking and valuation.
Analyze inventory costs and variances.
Assist with inventory audits and reconciliations.

Tax Compliance:

Prepare and file sales tax returns and other required tax filings.
Assist with the preparation of annual tax returns and other tax-related matters.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations.

Financial Analysis and Planning:

Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Assist with budgeting and financial planning processes.

E-commerce Accounting:

Understanding of Shopify accounting, and the integration of third party apps.
Monitor and reconcile online sales transactions and payment gateways.
Manage and report on e-commerce related expenses and revenue.

Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Help to implement proper accounting software.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in an e-commerce or startup environment.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Shopify, and related e-commerce accounting practices.
